  • P35-DS4 Firewire

Has anyone tried using the firewire ports on the P35-DS4 motherboard? I have tried with F8 and F9 bios and none of my devices show up in Vista. Not sure if it's the board or something else going on.

    Thanks.

I'm using a Lacie Bigger Disk Extreme Triple Interface 2TB drive. Drive works fine on the computer thru the USB port. Doesn't show up on the Firewire on the front or rear ports.

Not sure what that has to do with anything, however yes I attached a small laptop hard drive based external enclosure to it and no joy. On a side note, the back connectors powered up the drive but the front one does not. Is the front port not as powered as the back ones? Even though it powered up the drive, it still did not show in Vista.

Because I am a kindly old gentleman, I dug out a spare cable and hooked the WD 160G external to the front firewire port. I can report it shows up and works fine. This In XP PRO

You might want to check your front panel wiring to the 1394 connector on the board
