  • Issues with onboard LAN and SATA2 on GA-P35C-DS3R

    I have been having a couple of issues since installing my system which I hope that someone can help me with.
    <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
    My system is the following:
    MOB - GA-P35C-DS3R Revision 2.0 BIOS F4
    CPU - Intel Quad Core Q6600

    RAID 0 ARRAY - 2 x Samsung 500GB S300 on SATA ports 0 and 1
    DVD - Optiarc 18XDVD+/-RW/RAM SATA on port2
    CPU FAN - Akasa AK960E S775 Heatpipe DCo
    PSU - OCZ Technology StealthXStream 600W

    GPU - XFX GeForce 8800GTS 640MB DDR3 PCIE
    <o:p></o:p>
    And the current issues I am observing are:
    • Onboard LAN detects input cable only intermittently. I have checked in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place w:st="on">VISTA</st1:place> and all drivers appear installed correctly, indeed I have tried with numerous drivers from those included on the Gigabyte CD to the latest posted by Realtek on the 23rd October, however LAN cable is not detected when plugged in. I have also tried a number of cables (which work for other LAN cards and my laptop) and when using the SMART LAN facility all are shown as working correctly. I have also tried wiggling the cable but have not got consistent results;
    • Start-up hangs at <st1:place w:st="on">Vista</st1:place> green bar when Gigabyte SATA 2 ports are enabled for all types (IDE, RAID, IHC).
    <o:p></o:p>
    Other than that, I have been pleased with the performance of this Motherboard and the system in general.

      Janus,

      Thanks for the quick response. I have given this a try and unfortunately the issue remains with Vista insisting that the driver is installed and all is OK but failing to detect when a cable is inserted.
      I also gave running Unbunto a go and again the same was true. The port registered correctly, but failed to detect the cable when inserted. Again the PCI card I have bene using as a temporary measure had no issues at all.

      I am starting to wonder if there is a poor connection somewhere inside the port. I guess this would explain why it could install correctly and not register the cable at all times.

      Any further suggestions would be aprpeciated.

      Regards,

      Andy

        Dear AndyB

        I guess it's maybe not a software. will you try to RMA it?

            RMA mean send your mb back to the store, where you buy the mb, and ask them to fix it.

                  Thanks everyone.
                  I have setup a return with the supplier this morning and they pick it up on Friday. Hopefully I won't be without it for too long

                  Any ideas on the best way to box it up for its journey? I still have the origional box, but not the electrostatic bag and foam insert. I was planning to fill th ebox with shredded paper?
