  • ASUS X555L battery charging

Does it damage the battery leaving the AC power cord plugged in? Or must I disconnect the power when the battery is fully charged?

As long as the battery charger is working properly you should be able to keep the A.C. power cord plugged in.

When the battery is fully charged, the battery's charging circuit normally shuts off or it might provide a minimal trickle charge to the battery.

To be on the safe side, I would not leave the power cord connected if you are going to be away from your laptop for an extended period of time.

I would also leave the computer in an area where if something went radically wrong a laptop fire would not be able to easily spread to nearby flammable objects.
I don't have a laptop but they have been known to catch fire when the battery overheats or is poorly designed.

I frequently charge Ni-MH AA batteries and to be on the safe side, the battery charger is next to the bathroom sink and there are no towels nearby.
I have a high-end Ni-MH battery charger that keeps battery temperatures below ~ 30o(C), but I'm not taking any chances.

Performing a few web searches should lead to several reputable sites that can provide sound information.

Several searches to get you started:
