  • X55A bio not showing my hard drives

    Howdy,

I have 2 Asus X55A laptops for my kids.

On both laptops I've updated the bios on both to the latest version 417.

On the first laptop I took out the existing hard drive and put in a new 128GB SSD, and slaved the old drive with a caddy where the DVD Rom used to be. I installed Windows, all good. No problems. Both drives work without any problem.

The second laptop has a problem though: it just keeps going into the bios when it boots.

I believe I can see what the problem is, but I have no idea how to fix it.

The problem is in the BOOT menu in bios there are no boot drive options available, so I guess this is why it won't boot.

But, if I go into the ADVANCED menu and select SATA CONFIGURATION I can clearly see both drives are there.

Shows that the bios recognises that there are two hard drives.

Shows that boot menu doesn't have any options to choose from (on the other laptop the BOOT menu does show the drives and lets me choose which to boot from ).

All the bios settings are exactly the same on both laptops, and I have tried every other possible combination as well but I still can't find a solution.

I should also mention I have checked the drives and they work just fine in another computer, no errors, so no problems there.

    Any help would be appreciated.

UPDATE: I've fixed the problem since also learning there was a problem with the partition. I followed the guide (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQf9...-JxLWtZazyhNMA) and now everything is fine.
