ASRock Error code 4F

Hi, have been using my PC for over 2 years now, suddenly today when i turned it on i got the error code 4F, it does not shut down but the monitor, kayboard and mouse are not working.

ASRock Z87 Extreme4

I cannot access the BIOS and didn't do ANYTHING to it before it broke.

Plz help

4F is indeed a faulty bios chip.

I recently also had this issue and after much searching i came across a reddit post about the issue. I happened to have another of the same motherboard and replacing the BIOS A chip (it is just a slot in chip not soldered) it instantly fixed the issue.

You can get another bios chip from ASrock or order them from ebay.

EDIT:

After considering this post, another thought came up which is that the dual BIOS chips on the asrock boards are to prevent bricking the board due to a flash failure. Meaning that the second BIOS B chip is probably fine and replacing the BIOS A chip with the BIOS B chip (switching them around) will probably be a temporary solution, but you would still be wise to order another bios chip and replace the faulty one and then reflash it again when it arrives.
