  • Asrock H97M Pro4 Sata speed problem

My home storage server consists of the following components
    Asrock H97M Pro4 - Bios v. 1.90
    Intel i3-4150
    8GB Corsair XMS3 1600 (4 x 2GB)
    Samsung 840 EVO 120GB - (OS)
    5 x Western digital 2TB Red WD20EFRX - (Media)
    Fractal Design Node 804
    Bequiet Shadowrock Slim
    Windows 8.1 Pro x64

I've only noticed recently when updating the firmware of my SSD that ports 0, 1, 2, 4 are being reported in Intel rapid storage technology as having a SATA transfer rate of 3 Gb/s
    Samsung magician also confirms this

All of my drives attached have SATA 6 Gb/s controllers, and so even though I won't get the throughput with the western digitals, the reporting should at least be correct
My ssd is connected to port 1, and when I run a sequential benchmark in crystaldisk, i get a transfer rate of around 280 MB/s
This is significantly slower than it should be and inline with speed you would expect if you only had a SATA 3 GB/s connection!

The H97M Pro 4 motherboard comes with 6 SATA 6 Gb/s ports so I should be getting 6 SATA 6 Gb/s ports reported

BIOS is set to AHCI mode (as defaults)

Does anyone have any advise on what to do?

    Thanks in advance
