  • x99 oc formula link band width question

    I'm running 290's crossfired with a 5960x cpu.
My pcie band widths are reading one at x16 and one at x8.
It seems that slot one in running x8
1 vcard in slot 1 and the other in slot 4
I thought they were supposed to be x16??
    Is this correct?

The number of lanes available for each slot depends on the X99 board and the Haswell E CPU. Since you have an i7-5960X with 40 PCIe 3.0 lanes, the CPU is not a limitation.

From the specs for your board:

A video card in the PCIE1 and PCIE4 slots should be x16 for both cards. What is showing PCIE1 is running at x8? That might be a power saving option kicking in on the card in the PCIE1 slot.

What BIOS version are you using? Version 1.40 includes a "PCIE card" compatibility update.
