    There is a registry edit that can be done that will cause the native Intel RAID driver to be installed. The problem is this information is for Windows 7 and if it is applicable to Windows 8.1 is a question I don't know the answer to.

    One difference is the Windows 8.1 AHCI driver is now storahci. It is msahci in Windows 7. Actually beyond looking for the registry entry for the Intel RAID driver in the Win 8.1 registry, the edit should be the same. I have done this with Windows 7, but never with Windows 8, so I am reluctant to suggest it.

    A description of this change provided by MS can be found below. You will be looking for the registry entry with IastorV in it, as the article includes changing to AHCI or RAID mode.
