Replacing fried P67 extreme gen3 motherboard

I did something very stupid and fried my P67 motherboard and need to replace it. The P67 was using the 1155 Core i5 i5-3570K(E0) chipset
This is somewhat uncharted waters for me but it appears either of these to board would be comparable with the chipset.

Welcome to the forum.

You can't install an 1155 cpu in an 1150 motherboard.

Your cpu should be compatible with quite a few motherboard models.

From ASRock > Motherboard Series click on the 1155 series link to get to ASRock > 1155 Motherboard Series Models where you can click on specific models and then look at the cpu compatibility list for each motherboard.

Hopefully your current memory will be compatible with your replacement motherboard.

To avoid possible problems check the ASRock memory compatibility list for each motherboard model and/or the list of compatible memory kits from the memory manufacturer's web site.

On the G.Skill site you can also search for specific G.Skill memory kits where the web page will list specific motherboard models that are compatible with the memory kit.

You are limited to boards with Intel 6 and 7 series chipsets, with the exception of X79 boards, which is a different platform/CPU socket.

(BTW, chipset is the terminology used to describe the processor's support chip (P67, Z77, etc) and the chipset identifier is usually found in the name of the mother board.)

The 6 and 7 is the first digit of the chipset number, such as P67 or Z77. Since you have a 'K' type CPU, you may only want to consider boards that can OC your processor, not every chipset allows that. IIRC, the P67 and Z68 are the only 6 series chipsets that support OC, and the Z77 and Z75 the only ones from the 7 series.

Your best bet is a Z77 board, since they are still available but probably won't be to much longer. 6 series chipset boards like your P67 will be more difficult to find new, and the choices will be limited. You could always go pre-owned P67, I know I have one sitting in its box...
