  • non-z overclocking

I read that Asrock released a bios update that features non-z overclocking for motherboards like B85-Pro4 which is mine. Does this feature also work with i3-4330? Or does it require at least a i5-xxx K model?
I also read that Intel wanted to repatch that bios feature in order to make it impossible to oc like that. Is it still possible?

    Thanks for your answers!

    Re: non-z overclocking

If you check your board's BIOS download page, you'll see that BIOS version 1.60 has this in the description:

Support Non-Z OC with K series CPU

    ASRock > B85 Pro4

So yes you would need a K type processor to OC. It's the B85 chipset on your board (non-Z) that normally does not allow you to OC a K type processor. That BIOS update does something to change that.

A later BIOS version cancels that change, I'm guessing version 1.90.
