Do I need the Asmedia USB 3 Driver

Motherboard Z87 Extreme 6, Win 8.1 64 bit. Do I need the Asmedia USB drivers? I don't see them in the driver downloads for the board. There are drivers for the Z97 Extreme 6. Should I install them?

Windows 8 has a built in USB 3.0 driver, the ASMedia USB 3.0 ports are working, right?

You could install the ASMedia driver you found, won't hurt anything. If you discover that one driver works better than the other (performance, stability) you can use that one.

Thanks for the reply. I have not had any stability issues using the MS drivers. As for performance I have never check the USB 3 against USB 2. I will download the Z97 driver and give it a try.
