  • Problems with POST (h97m itx/ac motherboard)

    Hi guys,
I just built my first computer with the following specs
    Asrock H97M itx/ac mobo
    intel core i3 4130
ballistix sport 8gb 1600hz ram stick
    ssaphire R9 280 GPU
    CORD+SAIR CX500M PSU

When i attempt to turn it on, all the fans start spinning (including GPU) and some the ON light comes on, but I get no signal on monitor and no beeping sounds. Do you know if this mobo has a built in speaker? My case brought one but i couldnt find pins to attach it.

If the mobo has no speaker capabilities, the only thing i can think of is that I am connecting the display to the MOBO, not the GPU. Does the BIOS default to the GPU automatically?

    Any insight is greatly appreciated

    Thank you,
    Milton

the manual says, in UEFi's boot tab, there is an option called Boot Beep. "Select whether the Boot Beep should be turned on or off when the system boots up. Pleasenote that a buzzer is needed." Yeah, great idea, because this mobo has no speaker header!

Is the 4-pin ATX12V1 connector near the CPU inserted? Did you try to boot without the R9 280 inserted and the monitor connected to the board? Some mobos won't boot the first time before a cmos clear is made.
