  • Asrock z87 exterme - USB based installation

    Hi ...

    I tried to install Windows 7 via USB on a new Asrock z87 extreme 4 motherboard . I have changed the booting order to USB disk and i tried with both USB 2 and USB 3 port .. i am unable to kick start my installation .. kindly help me ..

    If you have another USB drive, then test that the motherboard can boot from a USB by using a linux liveCD. If the system can boot from that then you know the issue is your Windows USB drive and not the USB config on your motherboard.

    1. download the ISO from here: https://www.archlinux.org/download/
    2. plug in a USB drive
    3. write ISO to USB:
    Code:
    dd bs=4M if=/path/to/archlinux.iso of=/dev/sdx && sync
    If you are doing so under Windows then follow steps outlined here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php...dia#In_Windows

    4. Attempt to boot from archlinux USB.

      Thanks for your suggestion .. I believe , you are linux guys :) cheers me too ... Would you please suggest any link for the link supported for the Asrock z87 exterme motherboard .

        Are you asking for a link to a version of Linux which is supported on the Z87 Extreme4? I doubt there is any official support for Linux, but honestly I would say the same for Windows (is there official support for Windows from either ASRock or Microsoft?) . But official support is way overrated... the best support is community support found on forums like this and elsewhere (depending on the type of issue you have).
