Pretty easy question...I just trashed my piece of crap MSI board trying to upgrade the BIOS to get it to run my GTX 780..and now I need a board I know will support the card with no issues. Thanks for your assistance.

Your 2600k should work on that Z77 Extreme4. I've had a 2700K in my Z77 Extreme6 for quite some time now, and so far, nothing has shorted out.

I use an i7-2600K on an ASRock Z77 Extreme 4, and it works perfectly. Probably the most trouble free combination I've used, absolutely no issues using a SB CPU on an IVB board.

OTOH, the board's compatibility with a GTX 780 is another thing. I use GTX 600 series cards with it, but a '780 might be another story. Do you know that a '780 will work with this board?
