990FX Extreme3 Post Error 54 with DDR3L

I purchased recently the 990FX Extreme3 which was provided with Crucial Ballistix 1600 DDR3L 8GB (2x4GB) BLS4G3D1609ES2LX0 as a combo deal.

Upon assembly I receive the 3 beeps error at power on (Post Error 54).

I have noticed another thread that is in a similar situation where NewEgg provided a combo deal with Extreme9 motherboards;

I have tried each module in each memory slot and it's always the same thing.

Does this memory absolutely not work with Extreme3? If not I plan on purchasing

Thank you. I'd have to purchase another memory module to get the board to post so I can update the BIOS. Do you have a recommendation as to what make and model would work without a problem?

I received the new memory and I was able to post the board. I proceeded to flash the bios with the version you linked. The flash was successful but when I tried the first memory the board gave me the three beep error.

Emily,

I just want to inform you that I have tested my Cruical memory sticks on another motherboard and they were identified and the motherboard posted. So I'm still hoping that there is a BIOS update I can apply to my Extreme motherboard to get those sticks running.
