  • z77 pro4-m HDD found but wont boot

I upgraded my mobo to make room for a new cpu gpu and ram. However i try to boot for the first time and the mobo logo appears, then a black screen that says cant find any device, then it repeats this over and over.

I can see my HDD in the bios, ive even changed the settings from ahci to ide, pretty much every combination to try to get it to boot and it still wont.

It was a drive with win7 on it but i tried reformatting and a new install, figuring the old mobo drivers were interfering somehow. The install went smoothly and booted to desktop, yet it instantly shut down and restarted only to go back to the "cant find any device " issue stated previously.

Yes its the first device to boot. Ive tried plugging the sata cable into every sata2 or sata3 port on the mobo and the problem still occurs. Even tried it with a new sata cable. I just dont understand why it will detect the hdd but wont boot from it. Even after a fresh win7 install.

Re: z77 pro4-m HDD found but wont boot

I've reinstalled windows 7 four times now. Each time the end result is the same. This hdd was working fine yesterday before the upgrade so i dont think its the hdd... i just don't know what to blame so i can send it back for a refund.

it does seem strange, ive owned a few f3 1tb samsungs and never had that happen, your running the latest motherboard bios? try with only one memory stick installed just to rule out memory issue
