ASRock 960GM/U3S3 FX - ECC/Non-Reg Ram
Greetings all,
I'm sure this is a silly and obvious question but I've have been doing a bit of research on ECC ram and support for it but have yet to get the ram sticks for this board. The processor I'm getting for it is either an AMD Opteron 3260 or Opteron 3280 for the board yet the board will not support [according to spec sheet] Registered or ECC ram. The processor of choice however does support Registered RAM [and assuming ECC?] so it begs the question - is the limitation based on CPU [based on the onchip memory controller] or Board?
Considering using Unbuffered ECC ram on it if possible as it's both a Gaming PC and Folder and would prever the extra sanity checking far as data integrity is concerned. Has anybody any experience in trying to do use such ram with this board/cpu combo?
