I'm in exactly the same boat. New BIOS chip and getting this error. My only problem is....the instructions I've been given by ASROCK involve getting the 1394 GUID of the floppy connector on the motherboard.....and the x79 extreme4 doesn't even have a floppy connector. Any help would be much appreciated........

          Hi Emily....

The fix would work fine - only the extreme4 doesn't have a floppy connector on the board. Is the 1394 GUID located somewhere else on this board?

It's nice to see that some people do get support here. Is there any chance that somebody is looking at my problem? New build gives six beeps, won't POST

Are you offering one smyrlbau? LOL. If you are thanks. Emily has contacted me and offered some steps to try. Most of them I had already tried except for trying a different CPU (because I don't have a suitable one just sitting around). And Asrock Support has contacted me by email finally and offered the same advice. Their closing remark was: If the problem still cannot be solved, please kindly contact your local dealer to check your system. That will be hard to do when I am used to making a living fixing other people's computers. I would describe myself as experienced when it comes to building and maintaining computer systems. Given that I am unable to get any information on what the system is saying when it beeps 6 times at "4F",and then shows "0d". I guess that I'm just going to have to ask the dealer for an RMA on the board and hope that it isn't a problem with the CPU.</SPAN></SPAN>
