I just bought this motherboard, and did extensive research.

The Extreme7 Gen3 has one PCIe 3.0 port, which is the first PCIe slot located nearest the CPU socket.

Also, PCI Gen 3 requires an Ivybridge CPU, and to my knowledge they have not yet hit the market.

Asrock and their misleading advertising. I bought my ASROCK Z68 Fatal1ty gen 3 thinking it was going to be able to use PCIe 3.0, but I'm pretty sure Ivybridge will be a different slot....=/

I didn't find it at all misleading, besides there are no Gen 3 devices yet.

As for the Ivybridge CPU's, they will be 1155, so no worries there:

However, release date says April, so we have a couple months to go.

if its gen3 then yes it should support pcie-3,thats what the gen3 means, you need an ivy bridge cpu too,all none gen3 boards will support ivy bridge cpu's with a bios update but wont have pci-e3

There are a lot of other mobo manufacturers that integrated a PCIe 3.0 slot like ASRock that will support the forthcoming "Ivy Bridge" CPU from Intel. When Intel releases the Ivy Bridge CPU lets just say that it better work as advertised or Intel will be the "defendent" against a lot of "plaintiffs"...
