extreme3 gen3 bios question (Restore on AC/Power Loss)

My understanding (limited, yes) is that setting this (Restore on AC/Power Loss) to "power off" should result in the pc staying off after interrupting power. (hard power off - psu switch.) this isn't the case for me. turning off the computer with the psu switch results in a reboot as soon as the psu is switched back on. (with either setting.)


i am trying to isolate an unwanted reboot problem but this hampers my efforts.


can someone confirm this is/ isn't a bios problem? if not, any suggestions.

Instead of powering off using the psu rocker switch, try unplugging the psu cord from the electrical outlet, but not from the back of the psu.
I've done this to test my system which is connected to a UPS unit.
When I unplug the UPS cord from the wall outlet, my the UPS shuts down my system after several minutes.
When I later plug in the UPS cord, the UPS powers up, and my system remains off, as specified in my bios options.

OK. i tried the power cord, still rebooted. i didn't leave the cord out long though, perhaps stay alive power hangs on in caps or something. if it does work after a longer period really doesn't help me, so i'll move on. ty

This might be a bios issue.
Are you using the most recent bios version?
Contact ASRock tech support to see if they have an updated beta bios version that might fix this issue.
