  • X79 Extreme9 posting wrong cpu temp?

    2x Brand new 3930k C2 Stepping on 1.90 bios

Cooling is a custom loop using an XSPC RX360 rad, swiftech pump, XSPC Raystorm block

bios and core temp read same temps for all tests.

at stock settings, idle temps are around 28c and load skyrockets to about 75c

at 4.5ghz with 1.28 volts it sits at around 38c and loaded gets it to the high 80's/ low 90's.

Used an IR Temp gun aiming it to the base of the block, top of the block and back of the motherboard behind the cpu. The temp gun reads a max of 46c fully with the cpu being fully loaded on the OC'd settings.

This is a demo rig for work and will also be using it in the office so I want to make sure that it's not something I'm doing wrong. Is it possible that the bios is forcing the hardware to post incorrect temps? We tried putting in a i7 3820 and the temps were normal so it's down to either the bios or the cpu's....

    ideas?

    ***Update***

Latest beta bios seems to have fixed the issue...still pretty strange though...
