Re: Sapphire HD 6850 - no video signal on first PCI-E slot

    Dear draghi,

    Sorry for the late reply.
    We install HD6850 to Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 PCIE2 slot, system works normally.

Please kindly refer to below suggestion for testing.
    1. Load BIOS default settings to try.
    2. Re-install CPU and VGA card to try.
    3. If possible, please kindly install another VGA card to PCIE2 slot to check whether the symptom still occur.

If the problem still cannot be solved, please kindly contact your local dealer or refer to below link to contact your local distributor to check your system.

    Thank you!

    Have a nice day

Re: Sapphire HD 6850 - no video signal on first PCI-E slot

      Dear ASRock TSD - Emily

If you read the post from beginning you'll see that I've tried everything: reset bios, load bios defaults, reinstalled CPU and GPU, tried 3 different videocards, .......
I was confident that a custom (improved) Bios will resolve the problem. Video cards are working in second PCIE slot which is controlled by the same PCIE controller as first PCIE slot (that if I'm not mistaken), but at X8 bus speed. So I've thought that is a Bios glitch, because with video card on PCIE2 slot the system always starts with the onboard video.

I can return the Mobo to the store but it will take aprox. 2-3 weeks to change it. I need the PC and I can't stay that much without it, and the store can't refund me to buy another MoBo, only to change it.
I don't know what to do next! Is there a possibility that a future Bios version will resolve this problem?

It will help if you combine all your test setups with different video cards in one list to avoid confusion, don't write it all out in a paragraph.

Re: Sapphire HD 6850 - no video signal on first PCI-E slot

It's me again after some more tests.

          What I did till now:
          - Radeon 6850 in first PCIE slot - no signal
          - Radeon 5770 in first PCIE slot - no signal
          - Nvidia 7300 (without additional power cable) in first PCIE slot - no signal
          - CMOS defaults - no signal
          - reset the CMOS - no signal
          - remove CMOS battery for 3 hours - no signal
          - played with voltages in CMOS - no signal
          - set the priority to PCI Express and those options related to onboard video to off - no signal
          - two cards in PCIE2 and PCIE4 slots - no signal on PCIE2 slot
          - updated BIOS to version 1.15a, 1.20 and a custom 1.20 - no signal
          - reseated the CPU - no signal
          - removed all power consumers, left only video and ram - no signal
          - removed the MoBo from case and put it on some books - no signal
          - cleaned with alcohol PCIE connector and video card PCIE pads - no signal
          - tried another PSU (Thermaltake 550W) - no signal
          - tried all connections on video board (DVI1, DVI2. DVI to HDMI, DVI to VGA, HDMI) - no signal
Maybe are some more tests I've done but I can't remember right now.

Conclusion is that with a discrete video card on first PCIE slot, the Mobo will ALWAYS start with the onboard video. There is no way that you can disable it. Maybe in the future BIOS updates ASROCK will need to put a simple option like "Disable Onboard Video" or "Kill Onboard Video" or something that is explicit for that operation, and also something that will work. :(

So, ASRock TSD - Emily, do you have any new ideas? From Asrock support I didn't received nothing for over one month.
