Overclocking: in Bios or with AXTU

I have a ASRock Z68 Pro3 with an I7 2600k. I want to overclock my system.

What do you recommend? should I change the settings directly in Bios or in Windows with the Software AXTU from ASRock?

I would suggest you give AXTU a try and see whether windows freezes up or not (mine did, so I only use BIOS).

In general, utilities like AXTU and other MB-facilities go beyond de Windows kernel and delve deeply into the system. This makes your system more vulnerable to low level software conflicts. My experience with ASRock and ASUS-type facilities is mixed: sometimes they work fine, sometimes they report wrong values, or in my case of AXTU make the system freeze up..

Another consideration is that if your BIOS is of the UEFI-type, this technolgy is more recent and its interworking with Windows may be more difficult (there is still a learning curve for us all with UEFI and its related GPT to follow...)
