Re: ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Bios problem.

    ok well,
lets go for ..its a bug with the 2700k(comparatively new) base 3.5k as opposed to the 2500k , 3.3k base or the 2600k 3.4k base and the bios sees it as overclocked already and so doesnt provide the power saving option..
    How does that sound?
If it is that .. spank the Asrock folk.. ,Im just a punter.
If it is that.. it really shouldnt make any diff to your overclocking.

Re: ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Bios problem.

I can overclock it without any problems. I just can't test if it is stable as it keeps downclocking.

mm? thas kind of a topic change...forgetting about the "power saving" which might be due to the fact its a 2700k.. did you use the ezclock options at all?.. as mentioned a few posts ago?

Yes I did, but I can't really see how that is going to help?

I think I'll have to write to their support.

Anyways, thanks for at least trying to help :)

There should definately be a "Power Saving Mode" in the 1.70 UEFI. However, I doubt that setting has anything to do with your problem as it refers to IES (saving power by reducing the number of output phases). It is more likely that Intel SpeedStep is causing the downclocking.

Re: ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Bios problem.

Those options have already been explored.
If as according to the original poster , nothing has been changed. and ive no reason to doubt that asde from a posting of every uefi screen were left with 2 possibilities,

Stricylry speaking there is only one.
                        1. The bios doesnt have a default setting for the processor.
                        1. (a) This could be because its a 2700k. and the x35 base multiplier isnt seen as non overclocked(yet).

                          Sorry for letting you wait.

It's definitely not the Intel SpeedStep which is causing my problem as it is disabled.

You might be right with the "Power Saving Mode", but it doesn't change the fact that I'm missing the option to disable it.
