Random Freeze Issue.
After powering on and letting idle in bios on HW monitor screen (to let thermal paste burn in a bit), froze in bios (pre os install).
During windows 7 install froze many times at many different points (1%-99%-during install completion).
After finally installing freezes randomly in windows. In any case, bios or windows, freeze is 2min-25min).
Nature of Freeze:
With on-board video screen will go black with very thin r/b/g lines on left side of screen (sometimes one, sometimes several over an inch).
With discrete graphics screen does not go black but computer locks up completely (no numlock change, no cntrl+alt+del, no mouse movement)
Setup:
Asrock z68 Pro-m
i5-2500k
Kingston HyperX blu 8GB DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800) CL9 Dual Channel Desktop Memory Kit
550wat psu.
250g sata 6.0.
Things I have tried:
Memory in different slots.
1 memory tried in each slot.
Known working memory from another computer.
Known working hard drive from another computer.
Known working 650wat psu from another computer.
known working 570 graphics card from other computer.
Re-seat processor.
Re-seat heatsink.
Run out of case (to ensure no metal contact)
Flash bios to newer version.
All produced the exact same results.
If there is not a problem with the mb or cpu my only guess at this point is incorrect bios settings.
Any ideas or previous experiences would be appreciated (its an hour drive back to where I bought it).
