  • Z68 Extreme 3 Gen3 + EVGA GTX 560Ti 2Win

Computer starts and works normally thru onboard video w/o my EVGA 2GB 560ti 2Win installed. However, when the video card is plugged in, the computer does not display POST on any of the video outputs. The last code that Dr. Debug displays is A2. I do hear Windows starting up though so the computer is booting... Tried reseating, reconnecting power, other PCIe slot. I do not have access to another system to test. :(

    Intel Core i7-2600K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
    ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
    Corsair XMS3 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
    Crucial M4 128GB 2.5" Solid State Disk
EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti 2Win 2GB Video Card
Kingwin 1000w Lazer Platinum Power Supply
    Cooler Master HAF-912 Case

Any help or ideas greatly appreciated!

    Thank you,
    Cyrus

Does anyone have this mobo/card combo? I'm wondering if it's a compatibility thing -- haven't found anything or anyone through Google that has these two parts to confirm/deny.

      try whatever is in here

There are a fair amount of slow recognition of gx card posts , not just 560, or z68 with onboard gx..going back over a year.. Id stick with the main pci slot.

Im with Z68 Extreme3 gen3 and Palit GTX 560Ti 2GB , all start perfect from first time , you can go to vendor and try vga just to be sure its not problem there

            Re: Z68 Extreme 3 Gen3 + EVGA GTX 560Ti 2Win

yeh need to eliminate the possibility of the 560 being dead as a cause .
You installed windows using just the obrd gx then?

A2 is ide detect yes?..then again those codes arent allways accurate.
You can get to the uefi /bios anyway so make sure it is set for ahci and pcie display and anything else you think might affect it .
I dont know exactly the differences between the z68 and p67 UEFI settings but you can get screenshots of the uefi pages , using the F12 key I think to a usb stick.

Grab some of those post them using the onchip gx , perhaps a z68 owner could advise,or just write down and then type them! .. arrgh come back mr bios template.

Yeah, I installed Windows through the onboard video -- I'm actually on that computer right now.
AHCI was enabled before Windows install, as well as Primary Graphics set to PCIe. Also, disabled IGD Multi-Monitor and Onboard Standby Render.

                Re: Z68 Extreme 3 Gen3 + EVGA GTX 560Ti 2Win

Unless you can actually test the gx card or try another gx card in the pcie slot and eliminate them as a problem, its difficult .:(. I mean I cant think of any way round that..unless you stress test your pc as it is now with something like prime 95,if you get a failure do a mem test.
If it isnt the memory you may be short on time in finding out if its the mbrd or gx card you need to return?.
You have tried all the cmos reset etc?
What else is there?.got a normal hdd you can install and try with that without the ssd?
128gb on its own wouldnt do for long.

                  Re: Z68 Extreme 3 Gen3 + EVGA GTX 560Ti 2Win

I have a different mainboard (Z68 Pro3) but exactly the same problem with
a Palit GTX 560 Ti Sonic 1GB (no such problem with my 8800GT).
The GTX 560 Ti works fine in my older ASRock board (870iCafe).
I noticed that some people received a custom BIOS from ASRock TSD - Emily
so I sent her a PM requesting one for the Z68 Pro3.

                  Specs:
                  Intel i5-2500K processor
                  ASRock Z68 Pro3 mainboard (UEFI version 1.60)
                  Kingston HyperX DDR3 8GB (2X4GB) 1600MHz CL9 memory
Palit GTX 560 Ti Sonic 1GB graphics card
Corsair Professional Series Gold AX750 750W PSU
