I found a couple videos on youtube after a quick search. but 5GHz isn't always possible.

    Overclocking i7 2600k Using an Asrock Fatal1ty z68 motherboard - YouTube

    Intel Sandybridge 2600K @ 5Ghz 1.48v Air Cooled with ASRock Fatal1ty Z68 Professional Gen3 - YouTube

you can also try overclocking forums. my favorite is xtremesystems

    Good luck

typically you can't over clock ram on 2600k. It has too big of a jump to be able to tune it. Just set it to the speed it's rated and you will be good to go.

Then follow the instructions on youtube to get higher clocks. It is very difficult to get 5GHz and you probably don't want to keep it there. 4.5 is typically a safe setting for 24/7 use.

If you need more help on settings go to xtremesystems.com as they mainly do overclocking.

remember overclocking can kill your computer!! be very careful. You will also void your warranty!

This is false, you will not void your warranty by overl****ing as it is part of the chips main abilities vs the 2600...so what this poster says does not make any sense at all. You bought the 2600k because it has UNLOCKED cores...which means you can overclock it...

Secondly you cannot really "kill" your computer. All modern processing chips have fail safes and automatically turn off when they reach certain unsafe temperatures. I do believe there is an option to turn this off however it is not recommended even if someone tells you it's okay, I would not reccommend it unless you are seriously overclocker and know exactly what you are doing...

Your computer will power off when you reach unsafe temps therefore you really are safe regardless on how much you overclock.

As for life of a chip, I've read things that it does diminish the life expectancy of the chip but a chip's life is generally 15-20 years, so even if you lose a year or 5, it won't matter much since it will be completely obsolete in 10 years.

          I.E. Pentium 4 = 10 Years ago = 1 Core ---> 2600k i7 = Now = 4 Cores

          ----------------------------------

As for overclocking your computer look up guides on xtremesystems.com or overclockers, and they will guide you or you can get a general idea.

Going over 4.5 as said above takes a lot more FINE TUNING as opposed to just setting it and going at 4.5.

You need a good case with good airflow since you are using a Noctua HS, and plenty of fans to push hot air around.

Really what it comes down to about 50% of the time in terms of how far you can push your chip is your chip itself. They are all essentially the same chip but different chips will perform better than others in the same conditions as they are not all perfect replicas of each other.

Good luck and I will soon be joining you on the same board and with the same chip in my overclocking adventures.

just up the cpu multiplier, its not like older chips that rely on bclk overclocking thus altering the memory multiplier, all you have to do is oc with just the cpu multiplier, ram is adjusted by set speeds 1600mhz,1866mhz and 2133mhz ect,you dont do any overclocking through bclk so best not to touch it,only clock through cpu multi
