Re: Asrock mobo making horrible noise

Novatech Power Supplies from Novatech by Price Desc lists the NovaTech branded power supplies, priced from high to low. Their ATX 2.3 model prices seem to be similarly priced to quality power supplies in the U.S.A. Some of their older ATX2 models look scary cheap. It all depends on who they use as the OEM for each model. The are name brand power supplies sold by many of the major hardware companies, where some models are mediocre at best, and some are quite good. Almost all companies use two or more O.E.M suppliers for their psu model lines.

A 2 year warranty? O ye of little faith.
Corsair and Seasonic offer 7 year warranties for some of their top of the line models.
My three cents; if the price seems too good to be true, it usually is and you get what you pay for.
I'll get down off my soapbox for now, before I fall off or someone pushes me off.

Yes i agree with you,I would recommend corsairs high end units but have no idea whether they produce this noise or not,I do know the psu I listed doesn't and the fans silent

          @wazza300

There's nothing like "c1e eist c3/c6" in all the BIOS menus I have browsed, have you seen the bios screenshots I posted earlier in this thread?

I did'nt take a screenshot of the Advanced CPU Configuration, so here it goes:

Intel (R) Speedtest(tm) tech. - [Disabled] set to disabled
Enhanced Halt State - [Disabled] set to disabled
CPU Thermal Throttling - [Enabled] set to disabled

i think its these three main things,if you still hear noise after disabling all these then might need to test with another psu,can be graphic card too that causes it but more likely to be psu,re enable those settings if it doesnt stop the noise

Re: Asrock mobo making horrible noise

@wazza300 No change at all. So should I buy a 500 Watt PSU? I don't have much time to buy a new unit online, more likely I will get it at a local store, which means buying a generic/cheap PSU.

Here in Costa Rica everybody uses generic components

Re: Asrock mobo making horrible noise

If you are stuck buying local, make sure to look for approval ratings. Generally speaking the more the better.

also, a good test for power supplies is the old fashioned weight test. The heavier the PSU the better it will dissipate heat as it will usually have a big heatsink to keep temperatures down. It's not the best test, but it's better than nothing I guess.

also, the 80plus rating is very good. he higher the better. Bronze is lowest, then silver, then gold and finally platinum. Platinum can actually hit 90plus ratings and are quite expensive. an 80plus bronze should be sufficient.

also, as ProJim says, the longer the warranty the better as well.

                  Good luck

Trouble is there's no guarantee another psu will stop the noise,it all depends on what make/model doesn't make the noise, and the only one I know atm is the model i linked you to,there are others but no idea which make/model

btw, did you ever bench trst you system yet? There is still a very high possibility that the motherboard is shorting out on your case somewhere.

usually just use the motherboard box and fold it inside-out and place the motherboard on it. If there isn't any glossy paint. Or just use a plain brown shipping box. Since the problem started after swapping motherboards, I'd highly suspect this to be your problem.

Finally purchased the new PSU (ATX 600W 8cm, Over voltage protection: + 3.3v, + 5v, + 12v). Not a single sharp irritating noise, only the smooth sound of fans doing their job, I'm so glad! Thanks a bunch everyone, this forum was very helpful to pinpoint the issue.

Here's a capture, I hope this PSU lasts longer than the old one.
