  • Z68 extreme 4 DEAD

I built my setup in OCT.2011 everything worked until tonight .I quit BF3 and Poof! everything stopped except the PSU fan. no error . reset Bios turned power off for 10 min. tried rebooting ,same result . I think my MB is dead. How long will a RMA take? Do they send a mobo and I return this one like at Dell Computer? or will I have to wait two weeks?

You should try the minimalist boot approach described in http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...tml#post301218, post #2.

We can best help you after you have added a detailed hardware list to your forum signature.
Follow steps 1 and 2 in the middle of http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...tml#post295784, post #5.

An RMA will probably take somewhat longer at this time of year, just after the holidays.

        Re: Z68 extreme 4 DEAD

        "1k psu"?
        Nice DETAILED information
Without a brand and model number, we don't know if you have a high quality power supply or an el' cheapo POS model.
Your problem might be with your psu.

You should test your system with only one video card installed to see if it boots.
You might need to perform four tests, where you test with only one video card in each of the pci-e slots and then repeat each of the tests with your second video card. You might need to test with a different power supply. If these tests fail, you should test with a different video card. It will be a real PITA for you if you RMA your motherboard without verifying whether it is good or bad. You might end up waiting for several weeks and paying shipping charges, only to find out the your board passes all of their tests.

        We're not mind readers.
If you can't be bothered to provide a DETAILED hardware list in your forum signature, I can't be bothered with trying to help you.

Would you call up a doctor and say "I'm feeling really sick, what's wrong with me?" and refuse to provide detailed information?
