Emily I understand that you claim the Z68 will support the Ivy Bridge CPU.

But I and others would like to know what degree of support - 100% or some percentage thereof ?

Why would Intel bring out the Z77 chip-set for the Ivy Bridge CPU if as you claim the Z68 already supports the Ivy Bridge CPU ?

But based on you assurances I will now obtain a Z68 Extreme7 Gen3 motherboard.

I sincerely hope I don't find out down the track that the ASRock Z68 motherboard does not support the Ivy Bridge CPU 100%.

If that turns out to be the case I will definitely return to this forum with my comments (Good or Bad)

Will ASRock be releasing a Z77 based motherboard in the near future ?

      Thunder Bird.

        Dear Thunder Bird,

We will release BIOS to support Ivy Bridge CPU and do fully testing.

We will upload the BIOS to our website in the future.

        Thanks!

        Have a nice day

What features would we miss out on?

Re: Ivy Bridge processors and Asrock Z68 Motherboards

We won't know for sure until the new Ivy Bridge Panther Point Z77/Z75/H77 motherboards are released.
While Ivy Bridge processors will/should be "supported" and/or "compatible" with Z68 motherboards, will the performance be identical?
Ignoring probable PCI-E Gen3 hardware differences, we don't know if the newer motherboards (when they are released) will offer better USB 3.0 performance, better sataIII performance/options, or include other newer features and/or increased capabilities.

Why would Intel go through the expense and effort to design and test a new chipset? Intel did the right thing with the origninal Sandy Bridge motherboard recall, so I doubt that there are any reliability issues with the current P67Z68 or Hxx boards.

Could there be some "performance issues" with the current Sandy Bridge Cougar Point motherboards that need changes to make the most of the upcoming Ivy Bridge processors?
I don't know, time will tell.
