  • Asrock z68 motherboard BIOS update question

I have got a Asrock z68 pro3-m. I just updated to the latest bios 1.40 (which changes the default IGPU setting) from 1.20. Although it works fine so far I need to increase more Vcore to achieve same amount of overclocking as in the old bios 1.20.

I would like to know whether I could flash the bios back to the old bios 1.20? (I know it is OK for other brand of motherboard but it's the first time I use Asrock).

In addition, is there any crash guard/recovery function if flashing bios fails?

Could anyone please give an answer? Is there an answer from Asrock Technical Team?

        Dear dolphi,

Sure, you can flash BIOS back to P1.20.

Due to you overclock CPU frequency, you have to increase some CPU VCore for system stability.

        Thanks!

Many thx. for your reply Emily.

          BTW,

          1) what I mean is for my 2500k, the old bios 1.20 could be o/c to 4.4GHz at Vcore 1.24 but it takes 1.27 for new bios ver. 1.40 to achieve the same overclocking.
          2) since it's my first time to use Asrock MB (actually I got both Z68 pro3-m & extreme4), I would like to know is there any recovery/crashguard features so that if flashing of bios failed i could recover the bios by myself.
