  • Asrock 890GM-PRO3 V1 Raid 0 question

    Hello,

I just bought two of the ST3500413AS harddrives and trying to setup a RAID 0 configuration. I tried to enable 'Write-Back' caching but it's not letting me changing the default 'Write-thru'. Is there something I missed? I tried using AMD RAIDXpert but no luck.

    Re: Asrock 890GM-PRO3 V1 Raid 0 question

    Hello? anyone home? :(.

I am going crazy trying to figure out what's going on with my system. I've been experiencing poor performance in starcraft 2 after my little system upgrade (HDD + Memory). I've ran memtest86+ for the last 10 hours, around 4 passes without a single error. I've tried doing some memory benchmarks in Sisoft Sandra and got around 13.7GB/s for memory bandwidth. When I use HDTune to benchmark the HDs, I noticed a low burst rate. So I am wondering if this is causing the lag in starcraft 2? Click image for larger version

    My current setup is:

    PSU: Seasonic 650W
    MB: Asrock 890GM-Pro3
    MEM: g.skill ripjaws f3-12800CL9D 16GB @ 800Mhz (4x4GB)
    CPU AMD x6 1055T @ stock
    HDD: 2 x ST3500413AS in raid 0
GFX: Gigabyte AMD ATI HD5770 1GB

I also tried to reduce my graphic settings instarcraft 2 to low but the lag is still there.

    EDIT: Problem solved.
    1) Recreated Raid 0 with 128KB stripe
    2) Boot up into Windows 7 and format the drive (exit installation after this) This step is done because Win7 can automatically set the partition offsets and create the first 100MB recovery partition.
    3) Create and boot up with UBCD4Win (integrated the AMD Raid drivers)
    4) Quick format drive with NTFS & 64KB allocation unit
