  • ASRock 939A790GMH - HDD's spin down during windows reboot.

    Hi,

As the title says I'm having an issue with the Hdd's spinning down during a reboot of the OS. The drives are set in the bios to AHCI mode, none of the drives are raided. Is there a way to stop this from happening ?
Its rather annoying and also time consuming to sit there and wait whilst all four of my drives spin down and then back up.
My current PC has WinXP Pro and Win7 Ultimate 64bit in a dual boot configuration.
The main components are an AMD 64 FX60 with 4Gb of Corsair PC3500 LLPRO ram and a GTX260.

In the old days when I had a SCSI system and 7 HDD's in the PC I used to set them to wait for a start command from the controller to give the PSU an easier time, even they didn't have to spin down during a reboot.

I hope someone here can shed some light on this.

    Thanks

    Tony.
