ASRock P67 Xtreme4 PCI sound issues

Hi folks,

Trying to solve issue with PCI sound cards running Win 7 64bit. Tried X-Fi XtremeMusic (SB0460) with the latest driver as well as M-Audio AudioPhile Delta 2496 in both PCI slots. Always get crackling sound when listening to music (VLC or WMP). Onboard works fine, but I'd rather use discrete sound. When discrete card installed, I disable onboard of course as well as ATI HDMI on HD 5850. Flashed to the latest 1.30 BIOS. System is running at default clocks. I have attached DXDiag while onboard audio enabled.

SOLVED: UPDATE TO BIOS 1.40

I got the exact same issue...
You've fixed it already?

edit: Same MB with Creative X-FI pci-card

edit2: SOLVED: update to bios version 1.40 fixed it for me!! :) No more crackling at all!

Update: Success! 1.40 BIOS resolves sound crackling issue. Excellent!

In case someone needs 1.40 (this is to be flashed from BIOS)...

This is ASRock's FTP (right click, save target or save link as): BIOS 1.40

Interestingly, 1.40 got pulled... I will flash to it anyway and report back if it helped. I also didn't install Intel ME driver, so may be it was also causing it. Thanks for the suggestion!

No crackling sound here. Using audio on my GT240.
But i also wonder why 1.40 was pulled. Didn't dare flash with it because of that :D.
Now i see you guys haven't bricked your pc. I might go do the same :)

Running 1.4 steady here
Now at [email protected], i think with a new bios the voltage could go down though. But pretty happy with it as it is

I've got a bunch of Bluescreens after i updated bios from 1.10 to 1.40.
Haven't really made any changes. So..................

There is a new beta section available @Asrock. There you can find bios 1.43a beta, which is running nicely now on my machine.
