Hey guys,
After recent issues with my current CPU, overheat and damaged L1 cache, I'm looking at replacements and wanting to upgrade from Dual-Core to Quad-Core..
However on the AsRock specifications for my motherboard. It stated that using an AM2+ CPU on the board with decrease the Bus Speed from HT3.0 to HT1.0..
What sort of performance decrease would happen from say:
AMD Phenom II x4 940 @ HT3.0
and
AMD Phenom II x4 940 @ HT1.0
And would this be better than just replacing my current cpu with the one I already have (AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+)...
I would say having 2 more cores, even at the slower bus speed I would believe I would get better performance...
However I use the PC mainly for playing games.. So with the slower bus speed ho would the games performance be affected even with quadcore instead of dualcore??
Thanks
