Change CPU-Multi - no EIST/Speedstep anymore ?

Hi All,

is this normal behavior that if i set a manual CPU-Multi e.g x20 that in Windows only the VCore is changing but not the CPU-Multi anymore ? I thought Speedstep (changing Multi) should also work if i set a manual Multi (not AUTO).

Hi there,

To the best of my knowledge, manually forcing a non-default CPU multiplier typically constrains the CPU to run at that multiplier at all times, thus overriding or disabling any functionality of the Speedstep architecture. You may be able to consult your motherboard manual for more specific information on usage of Speedstep in conjunction with other overclocking options (such as modifying the fsb, exclusively), while restoring your CPU to its regular default/auto multiplier should be able to restore Speedstep functionality if it is important to you. In short, it is essentially likely up to you to pick your poison. :)
