  • H55M Pro Video Problem

    New HTPC build.
    BIOS 2.20
    I5-650 CPU
    2x 2GB G.Skill PC1333 RAM
    2 TB Western Digital HD
    Windows 7 64-bit

Computer boots fine into safe mode.
When booting normally it hangs right after the Windows logo comes together. No blue screen, it just sits there.

This behavour began immediately after loading the Video Driver. I have since downloaded and installed the latest video driver from the web site, but the problem still exists.

I get the same results whether using the VGA, DVI or HDMI video output.

    Re: H55M Pro Video Problem

The problem turned out to be RAM, or at least by replacing the RAM with a different brand the problem went away. Put the old RAM back on the board and the problem reappears. Ironically, the "old" ram works just fine on another Asrock H55 Pro board.

That problem is solved, only to reveal another problem ... it won't play Blu-Ray video. All other video plays fine, but Blu-Ray comes up all greenish with fine vertical lines across the width of the screen and the picture is considerably offset to the right.

    I'm thinking I've got a duff I5-650 chip.
