  • ASRock 880G/890GX Extreme3 + 1055T 1010BPMW + VCore measure point?

    Hey there,

I was wondering - since I own a DMM - where exactly is the VCore measuring point?

    Got a 1055T 1010BPMW and paired it with a 880G Extreme3 1.60, runs at 1.3375V with 3640Mhz. Can't figure out why CPU-z says 1.400V if I set 1.3375V ...

    Dear Tia,

It is because the Turbo Core and Cool n Quiet function.
Here we have a test BIOS for you, it will keep the Vcore under stable value, maybe you can try it if you like it.

      Hi Sean,

thank you for the reply! :)

I will try out the new BIOS soon and post some results. Actually Cool'n'Quiet and Turbo Core are disabled during my overclockings.

Do you know where I could measure the VCore with a digital multimeter?

      OK found them:

Seems like this BIOS is a bit better than 1.60! Keep up the good work! :)

        Dear Tia,
        Thanks for your reply.

For your second question, I would like to suggest you take CPU-Z as your reference.
        Thanks for your cooperation.

          Hi Sean,

CPU-Z is quite a good reference, but if I set the voltage to for example 1.45V, I get 1.505V with prime 100% load and 1.512V (CPU-Z always shows 1.520V) So the real VCore is alsways a little bit lower than CPU-Z says.

The 1.71a BIOS is quite good, it performs better than 1.60V, I can bench 4000Mhz with my 1055T. But it still could get better :)

          Cheers

I use cpuid hwmonitor. It gives vcpu core voltage, memory voltage, PSU voltage's, and GPU voltage. I find it handy for checking the temperatures too. Also individual core temps. You get your systems voltages and temperatures all on one little program. It does change also. It gives highs and lows the longer you leave it open the more it shows the highs and lows. Below is a easy to use download if you are interested in trying it.

              Hi there.

I know that program, my problem was not, that I didn't know, which software I should use for measuring different things (I for myself also use everest sometimes), it was more the thought, whether the sayings are correct or not. Because in the end every software gets it's information from the BIOS.

              cheers

Yeah some programs read bios. Some programs get it from the sensors. It depends. The CPUZ core voltage does fluctuate on this version 1.52.2. There is also an HW monitor in that BIOS. It also will show slightly higher than what you set it on. I noticed they pretty much all go up a tad from what they are set at.

Well, actually I don't know, which monitoring software uses which sensor. But I'm quite sure that the BIOS has to get the values from somewhere, i guess also from the sonsor

But there are some things I can say for sure

I believe the 95watt 1055T is out now.

                      Hello,

It may have a little misunderstand between the AMD website and the document whcih provided from AMD.
Accourding to the document provided from AMD, your test result is normal.

I also check GA-890GPA, similar result like our's, over 1.4v as well.
Please don't worry about it, we have test it

                        Well,

I will get to testing next monday. I think the idle voltage should be around a bit higher than you set in BIOS and the load voltage is a little bit under the set VCore. Let's say I set 1.35V, then in idle and CPU-Z I get 1.360V, with load around 1.344V oder 1.323V. That'd be so great ..

What I also noticed was the VCore fluctuation. I set AUTO and the VCore goes everywhere from 1.26V to 1.55V! That is kinda strange.

I still hope for the ultimate BIOS that fixes the VCore fluctuations and sets the correct votages ... remember: turbo and every other power option is off!

                        cheers

                          Hello Sean,

do you have a new BIOS version for me? Soon a 960T will arrive.

                          Kind regards
