I Installed Windows 2000 after XP..help :)

So yeah..I had a dual-boot setup with windows ME and XP

I delted ME and installed 2000. works fine. But whenever I select win XP from the boot menu, it says its loading 2000 but that doesn't work

I figure the 2000 installation overwrote the XP boot files. How do I fix this?

I guess you can reinstall XP so that it becomes XP again. BUT this is only gonna cause further problems. See XP and 2000 are the same OS!!!

I really don't want to install XP again...had to reinstall it about two weeks ago and i've only just got it all set up again.

What else can I do?

there is nothing you can do. Win2k and WinXP like I said before are the same OS. So when you install 2k. It overwrote its "newer" files. AKA the newer version of 2k. The install doesn't know the difference between the two. Also. when you dual booted were they on different physical drives? different partitions? or the same partition.

Same drive, different partions. Can I just overwrite the boot files rather than installing XP again?
