I have a probem. With windows xp when i choose to repair my internet connection i sget the following error: The following steps of he repair option failed : Purging the DNS Resolver cache
instead of selecting repair, do 'Disable' then open your network connections control panel and right click the connection in question (hey that rhymes) and select 'Enable'
hmm maybe i should have been more specifivc.. I am on dsl and have beed having problems getting to some websites. i need to purge the dns cache on my system. this is done by right clicking or in properties choosing repair on my network card connection icon in windows xp. this is when i get that error.
Try running this command from a dos box, without the quotes:
you could do "ipconfig /flushdns"
if that doesn't work try
"netsh int ip reset c:\log.txt"
this should restore TCP/IP to a "like new" state, and should resolve the problem you're having.
Then re-boot and try to repair the connection. You may not even have to repair the connection, it may be fine afterwards.
