up the registry creek without a backup paddle

Help! While attempting to get rid of spyware icons on my taskbar I disabled a function in my registry and can no longer click on the start button, taskbar or any of the icons on the screen after boot up and sign on.I have no recovery points as I reinstalled windows xp home thinking that this would correct the issue. As you all already know, and I now know, this removes all of the recover points. I know that I can reinstall the whole system from my oem disks, but I have a large collection of pictures (which I also did not save to disk) from my digital camera that I do not want to loose. where or how can I get a copy of the registry ? Is there one on my oem disks? I can boot into safe mode.
Anyone got any ideas ? Hello! ? Is anyone out there?
