Ikernal exe-application error

A search proved fruitless so will pose the question;
A mate tried to install a game he has previously installed and deleted and get the following error;

"0x771c732a"referenced memory at "0x001693a0".The memory could not be "READ".

any ideas would be greatly appreciated :?

Not sure if it happens/ed with anyhting else, I'm waiting to hear back from him, and have requested some more detail
