Reinstalling XP with virus

Hi All,
Jez, i am piss off :x . I have just installed xp home and down loaded some bios and drivers for my hardware ( with out any anti-virus loaded) Whilst doing this, i received a virus which i'm having trouble removing. The anti-virus I am using is Norton but is not loading. Symantec site picked up the Welch Virus and their removal tool got rid of that but can get rid of the Gaobot....Refer http://securityresponse.symantec.com...aobot.gen.html ................Damn...............My question is "Can I reinstall Xp with a virus infected system?

yea just format the HDD... start over with a new master boot record, and a clean state....

Just make sure to install the anti-virus software BEFORE you go online :lol: .
