  • SVChost q and prob

    ok ppl listen
    svchost, what does it do
+ can i canel it and function normally ?

    now the weird thing
i never had a virus, and my pc is protected (or i like to think so)
though without the use of an av.
when i canceled svchost (both of em) a blaster virus message
    appeared..
    wtf that means ?
    what should i do ?
and got any freeware av's ?

    tnx ahead
    raz :)

There can be several svhost processes running at any givin time, depending on what services you're using. I have 5 different ones running right now. I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure svhost stands for "service host" or something like that. The point is, one of them has RPC, or Remote Procedure Call, which is neccesary to Windows. If canceled, the system will order a shutdown, and should send you a message telling you so. If this happens regularly than you should refer to the thread labled "Remote Procedure Call error fix" in this forum. But it's not a problem if you manually canceled the service just once.
