Fastest? 2000 Vs Xp

i hear XP is just win2k with more fluff, but i'm not sure. which is the faster for gaming/benchmarking/Distributed computing apps?

as far as I'm conserned, XP is 2k... once I get done tweaking all the extra crap out of it, XP look and feels just like 2k anyway

XP will probably be what you want though, it has a bunch of small changes over 2k that make life a little easier for the average user. As for gaming, benchmarks, and DC... I don't think it makes a lot of differnce if you're going to tweak them both for performance anyway.

i personally find XP is alot faster for gaming than Windows 2000.

xp is optimized for graphics performance while 2000 is a workhorse business OS so xp is better for gaming, etc. then 2000 no matter how much you tweak 2000.

Ye thats basicaly what 3d mark 2001 said anout 1000 marks in bettween , yet this could be down 2 drivers sorry bout the wait i forgot all about it

Win2k will score a few hundred points higher in 3dm01 on an AMD than XP. There's almost no difference for Intel.
