      thanks xboy

i had been doing some reading and i think this might be the problem!

      switch off the automatic
If the option 'Auto insert notification' is active, then Windows 95/98/NT will be informed straight away as soon as a new CD is inserted or when a CD is removed. Unfortunately this option can cause problems during the burning process so that it is advisable to deactivate this option:

      In Windows 95/98:
      Please click on Start->Settings->Control Panel->Device Manager->CD-ROM

Now for all CD drives under Properties->Settings deactivate the option 'Auto insert notification'. Afterwards it is necessary to restart the system.

      In Windows NT:
Please open the registration editor and change to the following key:

      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\CDROM

Now set the entry of the value Autorun to 0. Then restart Windows NT.

Note: this value affects all Users!

well i cant seem to do this could you give me some guidence
i'musing xp pro so what one do i do i tried both and under control panel (Start->Settings->Control Panel->Device Manager->CD-ROM)
i cant find were i can deactivate the 'Auto insert notification' and the other it gives me a error win. saying it cant find the right path?

although the problem seems to be already solved but i would like to point out that why you didn't find a solution even after searching for it.
its because you might be searching for wnasp132.dll, where as the name of the dll is wnaspi32.dll

Ummm... I think you are asking how to turn off autoplay, right?

Well go to start, click on run, and type the following without the quotes "gpedit.msc"

Under User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Click on the System folder. Now double click on turn off autoplay, and check 'Enabled' and press the Apply button, then press OK.

            Now autoplay is disabled :thumb:

firstly get rid of the dll problem you are getting.
download wnaspi32.dll and copy it to "C:\Windows\System" directory.
