  • UnrealTournament 2004 hanging issues

Hello, new guy on the forums.. although i have been coming to tweaktown alot in the past.

The people at the ut boards are not a big amount of help (plus i love you guys )Also, I don't know if this is in the right area or not.. so bare with me.

Alright so here is my problem.. it is completely random when it hangs, but when it does.. it does it for like 10-15 sec every maybe 20sec to 2 min. Now I would understand it doing it if the game didn't run smooth at all.. But the game runs solid and everything.. it is just the hangs that are really getting to me. I updated the nvidia drivers and all, i'm scared to update my bios nor do i want to overclock my cpu(don't want to put the volcano 9 in.. way too loud) or video card(fried my geforce 3). All my other games (warcraft 3, splinter cell: pandora tomorrow online demo, thief 3.) work fine.. no hangs. Well the best thing to do is to post my specs.. so here i go.

    i don't want to post a huge picture.(thinking of the 56kers)
also on a personal note.. if they had a openGL option.. i'm sure i wouldn't be having this problem.

    Thanks in advance

Go run through the Windows XP tweaking guide at www.tweakguides.com. You should also take a look at the UT2004 tweaking guide while you're there. There is an OpenGL option that you can enable. It's somewhere in the guide.

Until you've done that, narrowing down the problem will be difficult.

      Re: UnrealTournament 2004 hanging issues

Oh i looked for a ut2004 guide on the site.. i saw a 2003 one that i have yet to read. Well I finally found a post about my issue on the ut forums and alot of people had this issue.. Now i'm not certin i have fixed it but, i installed latest sound card drivers and ut2k4 seems to be a ram *****. So i had to tone down some of that. But for now it runs less smooth.. but i have not noticed a hang yet. Which is a step forword. I will go ahead and read the guides now.
