DVD X Copy Platnium freezes when printer is turned on

What would cuase that? Its a USB printer hp PSC 2410v photosmart all-in-one. If I turn the printer off DVD X Copy Platnium works fine. Everytime I turn my printer on the USB device is found by Windows XP. Could the USB device have some sort of conflict with the application?

I have a customer who bought a similar hp all in1 about 6 months ago(not from me, I recomended another brand). Those printers have a bunch of software that runs all the time waiting for input. Anyway, if his machine is turned on without the printer on first, it blackscreens and needs the cmos reset and bios reconfigd every single time. It is caused by the hp software/hardware and works perfect without the hp stuff installed. It only does this in conjunction with the hp product(s). It took 3 housecalls to pinpoint the cause for sure(I was starting to look bad). I told him he has 2 choices, take it back or leave it on forever.

Dont have the printer on while running that app.
