    Hi everyone,

Where does MS Outlook Express keep dowmloaded e-mails?

How do i extract and back them up?

All my new e-mails are downloaded and OPENS automatically when i click on the e-mail once. It doesn't give me a chance to select and delete, it just opens. Is that safe? I have Nortons which scans e-mails when it's opened, will that do?

What can i do to disable the "auto-open" feature in Outlook?

Can't say about the auto-open thing since I don't use it at all so haven't delved for it. But to back up your emails, just browse to the following directory (assuming WinXP as the OS) and save all that is there.

    C:\Documents and Settings\**USERNAME**\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities

i think what u r experiencing is preview pane. there should be an option in tools --> options --> read

just disable the preview pane from there.
