I hope this is the right place to this, if not I'm sorry.
I uninstalled my CD-Drive & IDE Secondary Channel because I was having trouble in booting CDs I have burned. This has been a problem for a long time. The CDs boot fine on other machines. I have a old HP 531w with a
MITTSUMI CR-48X9TE drive. Apparently this has been a bug for a while on these old HP units. Any way on reboot it says the driver is incompatible with this system. I'm running one of the very first XP versions released OEM.
I have all the updates installed. I guess with all the services packs installed some how it makes the original driver wrong or unrecognizable somehow.
Is there a way to install the driver without do a complete rebuild or reinstall
of Windows ??
